GRID 2 is 100% arcade racing, like you drift in every turn. I haven't played it since GRID Autosport was released but I played GRID 2 with my keyboard and won a lot of races online.
New Grid Game
Autosport is nearly unplayable with keyboard if you turn all the assist off, so I had to get a 360 controller to be able to play with all the assists off. In GRID 2 you can upgrade the cars but not fine tune them with more/less downforce, longer/shorter gear ratio, harder/softer suspension ect. Like in Autosport. I really enjoyed GRID 2 but I won't go back because I like the semi-simulator gameplay in Autosport more. Grid 1 is still the best racing game.
One of the best ever made.A nice mix of semi-realistic handling and arcade fun.As far as I remember though, nothing in the way of customisation.I don't think any of the Grid games do much customisation other than changing liveries on the car.Unless you can customise for online racing, I haven't looked at that.For car customisation you want need for speed shift. Buy shift 1 if you are using a controller, buy shift 2 if you are using a wheel. The input for controller in shift 2 is horrible, it feels like input lag all the time. Apparently it's supposed to be like that, I don't know why. But with a wheel it's awesome.And both shift games have great customisation options, for both performance and visual upgrades. Grid2 is very fun and easy to grab, autosport has more substance and the players are generally very good. Lot of challenge.I am very new to 'sim' racing, but I bought a wheel a few months ago for assetto corsa, and I immediately started having great fun.Turned off all assists, and just drove solo time trial laps with the different cars on my favourite courses, and was hooked from the start.I expected to find it dull and boring to start with, but it was surprisingly quick to learn. I still could never compete with some of the hardcore simmers if I played online, my lap times are way too low, but for me I find it great fun just beating my own times, playing against AI every now and then.
